: I read an article about gangs in the military, and shook my head in sadness and dismay.

Of course, I am not naive enough to think this is the first time in the history of the military that this sort of thing is going on... But, that it has happened in the past does not negate the fact that activities like this within our military adds yet another mark of dishonor to their growing list of black marks.
There is honor in protecting your country...
There is no honor in working as a (low) paid thug for a band of egotistical tyrants.
